Find a picture that is of a landscape (ie. has no people or animals in it).
Write a descriptive paragraph about the picture as if no one will ever see the picture and you need to make it come alive in someone's mind.
You need to use adjectives/adverbs that address each of the five senses. (Taste, Touch, Sight, Smell, Sound) Ex. the salty ocean, the whistling wind.
You also need three similes (a comparison using like or as) and four metaphors (a comparison without using like or as). You may combine the different elements in the same sentence.
Ex.the sun's silver fox tongue licked the ocean like a bowl of water.
When you are finished your paragraph, type it up and double space it. Then take three different colour highlighters. Use one colour to highlight your sensory words, another colour to highlight your metaphors and another colour to highlight similes.
Hand in the paragraph and the picture.
DUE: Next class.
Also, if you are in the class that has the books to take home, you are to read at least four chapter of The Help a night to stay on track of finishing the book in one week.
Happy New Year!
